Plan B Overview


Out of the 10 different Medigap policies Plan B is a slightly greater than basic policy. In order to qualify for any Medigap or Medicare Supplemental Plan you must first have Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B.

Medicare Supplemental Plan B is very similar to Plan A in regards to overage. It is important to note that the difference is that Plan B also covers your Medicare Part B deductible.

Plan B is a Medigap policy that covers the Basic Benefits section of standard Supplemental Insurance plans as well as Medicare Part B deductible.


What Medigap Plan B Covers


  • 100% of Medicare Part A coinsurance and copayment but not the deductible. It also covers an entire year (365 days) of hospital care after your Medicare coverage has been exhausted.
  • 100% of Medicare Part B coinsurance. This is typically 20% of Medicare approved payment amount.
  • 100% of the cost of your first three pints of blood.
  • 100% of coinsurance for Medicare Preventive Care Part B
  • Hospice Part A coinsurance. This includes copayment for outpatient prescription drugs and coinsurance for respite care.
  • Deductible for Part A

What Medigap Plan B Does Not Cover


  • Skilled Nursing coinsurance
  • Part B Deductible
  • Part B Excess Charges
  • Foreign Travel Emergency Care
  • Preventative Care
  • At Home Recovery
  • Vision Care
  • Dental Care
