Plan N Overview


Medicare Supplemental Plan N or Medigap Plan N is often considered a less expensive alternative to Medicare Supplemental Plan F. Plan N is also a new addition to the Medigap family having been made effecting on June 1st 2010 along with Plan M. Plan N was created with the intent to provide an alternative to the 100% coverage of Plan F but at a lower rate.


What Plan N Covers


Plan N Covers all of the following benefits.

  • Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital care for up to one year (365 days) after original Medicare coverage has been exhausted
  • Part A Deductible
  • Part B coinsurance or copayment, Part B will pay 100% of coinsurance except for some copayments of $20 for doctors visits and $50 for emergency room visits that do not result in inpatient care
  • First three pints of blood
  • Coinsurance or copayment for hospice care
  • Coinsurance for skilled nursing facility
  • 80% of foreign emergency medical care

 


What Plan N Does Not Cover


  • Part B deductible
  • Part B excess charges for doctors who charge up to 15% higher than the allotted Medicare amount
